Dr. James Pipkins, an electrical engineer and plasma physicist, founded Pipkins, Inc. in 1983. Pipkins created the first Workforce management software program for BT (formerly British Telecom), which provided the foundation for the current generation of Pipkins, Inc. products. When he returned to St. Louis from the United Kingdom, Pipkins began building his company’s staff of management, technical, and marketing people who are developing new products and introducing them to the U.S. market. A native of Arkansas, James Pipkins earned an electrical engineering degree from Louisiana Tech University and a doctorate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was a physicist at General Atomic and McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) before starting Pipkins.
